Tynemouth Pier (Wild Weather)

A windy day at Tynemouth Pier in North Tyneside, North East England. Available in open and limited edition prints.

Product Description

Tynemouth Pier is a stone breakwater that was built to protect the mouth of the Tyne from the ravages of the North Sea. Before the construction of the two piers, the mouth of the River Tyne was exposed to the full force of the sea and many ships were wrecked. The Pier extends from the foot of the Priory 900 metres out to sea. It has a broad walkway on top, popular with Sunday strollers.
