FAQs – Wedding Photography
How far do you travel for weddings?
So far, I’ve travelled extensively throughout the UK, but would be delighted to photograph a wedding overseas in the future.
Is Photography your full time business?
Yes. For a number of years, I juggled my photography alongside a career in the Financial Services Sector, but aside from helping my daughter with her videography business, I concentrate solely on my photography nowadays.
Is your photography formal or candid?
I combine the two. About 75% of the images will be of candid, quite natural and capturing the smiles, laughter and tears of the day, with the remainder being formal. When I say formal, I make sure that they are fun and enjoyable.
Do you have a second shooter?
I usually do and it is often my daughter Stacey. She shoots images from different angles and captures many of the candid moments but is also a great help to me if I need assistance.
What else do you need as a professional photographer?
Insurance and back up equipment is essential.
How long will you be at the wedding?
I usually arrive about 2 hours before the ceremony and stay until about 30 minutes after the first dance.
Do you require a meal at our wedding?
I prefer to stay on sight if at all possible, so I’m happy to buy a bar meal, it really depends on the venue and their ability. I consider it a bonus if the couple organise with the venue to include a meal for the photographers. However this is never a requirement as I know wedding are expensive things and the last thing I want to do is add more cost so I am very happy to bring a packed lunch, just let me know.
How many photos will we receive and how do you deliver them?
For a full day wedding then around 400 images. You will receive you own online password protected Client Gallery, which you can share with your friends and family. I also provide copies on a bespoke USB. Albums can be ordered separately and start at £300.00, these are usually organised after the wedding. I usually complete the editing and deliver about 4 weeks after the wedding.
Is it possible to have a ‘Pre-Wedding’ shoot?
Yes, I recommend that we have a pre-wedding shoot along with the final consultation about a month before your big day.
What if you are ill?
I have a good network professional and friendly photographers would I can call upon if required.
Your special day, beautifully captured
Most photographers have the same aim as myself, which is to delight their clients and it should go without saying that they would want to produce images that are personal, stylish and emotive. I love seeing people’s reactions when they view their photographs for the first time, but it is just as important to ensure that it will become a joyous feeling for years to come. Every wedding is special and every one I shoot is an honour to be a part of. There will be opportunities to be creatively bold and daring, and there will be times when simplicity should be the main driver. I will bring with me a bag of ideas, with space for new ones supplied by you the client. I love to create a set of pictures that tell the story of a wonderful wedding, evoke the magic of the day and capture the happiness it brings.
I have a sense of humour and an unobtrusive informal approach that will make you feel at ease being the centre of attention. Although I’m influenced by current styles and fashions in wedding photography what I do on a wedding day is a reaction to you and what happens on your big day.
I set myself high standards and I’m passionate about taking great images however in my opinion the best photos come from people who are not aware they are being photographed. I therefore like to work in a reportage style and enjoy mixing in with your guests wherever possible; I find this really helps to capture the intimate moments and genuine happiness of your family and friends as they are at their most relaxed. I will recommend shots that I trust you will like, however if you have any specific ideas then I will make sure that I accommodate your wishes.
Amazing moments, a lifetime of memories
After the wedding I will invest considerable time editing the photographs to ensure the highest quality that will stand the test of time and tell the story of your day. Please take a look at my portfolio to get a feel for my style. Several of my wedding photographs have featured in NPhoto Magazine (a publication for Nikon Photographers).
